This service is designed primarily for larger clients and other language service providers. Alignment involves creating translation memory (TM) databases from past translations. To perform alignment, corresponding source and translated documents are required.
The process involves:
Importing both source and translated texts into specialised software.
Automatic segmentation of texts and pairing of segments based on predefined rules.
Manual correction and approval of segment pairs by a translator.
Properly conducted alignment results in a TM file in the desired format, helping both translators and agencies maintain consistency across document versions.
At BTD Services, we primarily use SDL Trados Studio for alignment, but we also work with other online CAT tools such as Phrase, MemoQ, and XTM.
